Post Book Thoughts: ANGRY! ANGRYANGRYANGRYANGRYANGRY!!!
Hi, I am Radhika Mehta and I am getting married this week.
I work at Goldman Sachs, an investment bank. Thank you for reading my story. However, let me warn you. You may not like me too much.
One, I make a lot of money.
Two, I have an opinion on everything.
Three, I have had a boyfriend before, Okay, maybe two.
Now if I was a guy, you would be okay with all of this. But since I am a girl, these three things don’t really make me too likeable do they?
Do you know that argument us feminists have about men just not writing stories from a females point of view? THIS BOOK IS THE ENTIRE REASON WHY WE HAVE THIS ARGUMENT! *flips a table*
Okay so first of all never read this book. Why did I chose to review it if it’s an infected pile of dung that’s so bad it can’t even be used to fertilize a plant? Because:
a) I reaaally don’t want people reading this
b) This book is a problem that needs to be spoken about!
It is so sad because I have read amazing Indian literature and I was hoping for one of those, the blurb even had me mildly excited! Like, omg is this a good book that tackles the blatantly obvious double standards when it comes to women in India? NOPE, nope nope nope nope (please do forgive me if this review is a just word vomit at some points, I really am disgusted and mad)
Here is a girl who has an MBA, she has one of the highest positions in a globally prestigious company, man she’s killing it! And one of her biggest issues in life turns out to be that she’s not fair like her sister and she can never seem to find a man to settle down with. BIGGEST PROBLEM!
I MEAN! I know women! I am women! And let me tell you if a woman had all that going for her yea sure maybe she’ll have the occasional insecurity about how she looks and dating and men and all that jazz but it will most definitely not be the entire narrative around which her life revolves!
Her most important moment in life is not going to be her bosses boss going down on her at some beach resort!!!!
This male man dude guy author managed to create a total badass female protagonist who’s smart and capable and boil her down to a flimsy damp rag who’s the most hypocritical feminist out there and who can only seem to think about men in her free time. LET ME TELL YOU WOMEN HAVE WAAY MORE GOING ON IN THEIR HEADS THAN JUST MEN AND MARRIAGE AND BABIES! 21st century! OMG!
It’s an awful story, please don’t ever read it. It’s one of those pseudo feminist romance novels that should be burned.
