My fair skin and western-ish name can often be very misleading. In case you didn’t know, I’m Sri Lankan, and so is my co-blogger Shehani. A little bit of history for ya: Sri Lanka, our lovely island home, formerly known as Ceylon, gained its independence from the British on the 4th of February 1948.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

When I first started this blog, it was mostly a place where my friend Manushee and I could voice our bookish opinions. Just a hobby. Something that we did whenever we had the time. But four-ish years in (I’ve lost count), this blog has become something I am truly invested in, and want to see grow, my weird schedules be damned.

We hit a hundred followers last week and, taking our 69th Independence celebrations into consideration, we cooked up an idea to celebrate all these things at once and host our, wait for it…

*drum roll*

This giveaway isn’t glamorous by any means, but we’re sure that any of you who are serious about reading diverse novels is going to love this. We’re giving you, our lovely, awesome followers a chance to win a copy of one of the following books:

It’s very kind of you to host this giveaway! Hopefully, you’ve also educated some people about Sri Lanka. In the U.S., where I live, I find many people don’t know where Sri Lanka is or that it’s even an independent country. Ugh.

Ugh. That sounds awful! It’s a big part of the reason we wanted to host this giveaway. We want to promote our local literature and talk about the country more. It’s kinda sad that the only time we ever come up in mainstream media is in relation to cinnamon and tea -_-

There’s a bunch of us, actually, as you might have seen on Twitter 😀
Bloglovin’ is totally fine. I just followed back 😀
And yes, Funny Boy is a great addition to your TBR. It was beautiful and I highly recommend it.

haha, better late than never then. Our local authors have some wonderful tales to tell. You should check some of them out 🙂

Just added Funny Boy and Wave to my TBR. I’m also from the US and although I know where Sri Lanka is (I was lucky enough to attend a school with mandatory geography classes), I had no idea it was formerly called Ceylon. Thank you for taking the time to educate us!
